Why your birth date matters

The Chinese animal year does not begin on January 1. For January and February birthdays, the previous animal year may still apply. Paravital therefore converts the date through the Chinese lunar calendar first and combines your actual year sign with element and Yin/Yang. Month and day cycles add further personal depth.

The 12 Chinese animal signs

Each sign describes a distinct baseline. Select an animal to learn more about its nature, relationships, talents, challenges and how the five elements modify its expression.

More than the animal sign

The five elements change the expression

Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water are not permanently tied to one animal. They rotate through the 60-year cycle. A Metal Dog therefore expresses differently from a Water Dog, even though both share the Dog baseline. In your personal readings, Paravital also considers how your birth element interacts with the energy of the selected period.

Why this element matters

Wood · Growth & development

Wood traditionally represents growth, learning, initiative and the ability to develop in a new direction. In an animal sign it tends to make the baseline more flexible, curious and growth-oriented.

Wood matters because the same animal sign may act differently: it tends to seek possibility and development rather than preservation alone. In a period reading, the element relationship also shows whether this movement is supported or challenged.
